3.0l Euro Exhaust:
The stock euro exhaust was designed to be a free flow exhaust.  There is no cross over in the exhaust pipes prior to the catalytic converter.  The pipes flow straight from the headers through the exhaust.  Since the car is a track car compliance with emissions controls were no longer a concern.  The catalytic converter was replaced with a resonator and the stock exhaust was replaced with a small street legal dual can exhaust.  Many tracks now have noise restrictions and the street exhaust meets those requirements.  The DMS exhaust from Rouge Engineering was chosen for several reasons.  It was compatible with the larger exhaust pipes used with the Euro 3.0l motor.  It has small separate cans that are set back from the tire well.  This solves many problems we had with our wide tires rubbing against the stock exhaust.  The exhaust weighs about 1/3 less than the stock exhaust and, last, its free flow design is good for some modest top end horsepower gains.

Parts:
E36 DMS Exhaust Euro
Description: Street legal bolt on euro compatible exhaust
Benefits: The DMS exhaust offers several advantages.  While it is still a street exhaust it weights about 40lbs.  It is also quiet and compatible with most if not all track sound requirements.  There is an optional insert for the exhaust tips to further reduce the sound level if needed.  Another advantage is that its compact dual canister design allows for one to run large tires in the rear without having them rub against the exhaust cans.

SuperSprint Euro Resonator
Description: Replacement for catalytic converter
Benefits: The resonator deletes the catalyic converter and has an expansion chamber in each pipe that functions as a resonator.  Deleting the catalyic converter increases the free flow of the exhaust.  There is a modest horse power gain and a slight weight savings.
